The New Zealand national football team, commonly called the All Whites, represents New Zealand in international men’s football. Their history at the FIFA World Cup is rare but notable — they qualified for the finals only twice before 2026, at Spain 1982 and South Africa 2010. In both tournaments they played in the group stage, and to date they have never won a World Cup match.
In the expanded 2026 World Cup, New Zealand made history by directly qualifying from the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) — the first time the OFC region earned a guaranteed spot without an intercontinental playoff. New Zealand sealed their place on 24 March 2025 by defeating New Caledonia 3-0 in the OFC final, with goals from Michael Boxall, Kosta Barbarouses, and Elijah Just.
For the 2026 FIFA World Cup, New Zealand has been drawn into Group G alongside three other nations:
Group Stage – Group G
Belgium
Egypt
Iran
New Zealand
This means the All Whites will face a mix of European, African, and Asian competition in the group stage. Their campaign opens with a match against Iran, followed by games against Egypt and Belgium — giving New Zealand opportunities to test themselves against a variety of styles and strengths on football’s biggest stage.
