The Brazil national football team, known as Seleção Canarinho, is widely regarded as the most successful and iconic team in the history of the FIFA World Cup. Founded in 1914 and joining FIFA in 1923, Brazil is the only nation to have appeared in every World Cup tournament since the very first in 1930. They have won the World Cup a record five times — in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, and 2002 — and have reached the final on seven occasions, second only to Germany.
Brazil qualified for the 2026 World Cup, maintaining their unbroken streak of World Cup appearances — the longest in history. They secured qualification with a 1-0 win over Paraguay in June 2025, with Vinícius Júnior scoring the decisive goal in São Paulo. This victory under new coach Carlo Ancelotti ensured Brazil finished among the automatic qualifiers from the CONMEBOL (South American) qualifiers.
Group Stage — Group C
In the 2026 World Cup group stage, Brazil has been drawn into Group C, where they will compete against:
Morocco — A strong African side with recent deep runs in World Cups.
Haiti — A CONCACAF team returning to the World Cup stage.
Scotland — A European team with historic World Cup experience.
Group C matches are scheduled for June 13–24, 2026, with the top two teams in the group (and possibly some best third-placed teams)* advancing to the Round of 32 knockout stage.
